Dr. Ben Cheikh was not satisfied with some traditional limits, and restrictions related to women were broken. She obtained her medical diploma in Paris in 1936 at the age of 27. In the same year, she returned to the homeland and opened her clinic free of charge, to enter the history as the first Tunisian doctor in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
She held the position as head of the obstetrics department at the Charles Nicole Hospital in Medina in 1955. The Tunisian doctor founded the first family planning clinic in Tunisia
